Asiaticoside is a well-studied Centella asiatica active with good tolerability at cosmetic concentrations, and CIR has assessed Centella asiatica-derived ingredients as safe as used; however, Centella asiatica and its triterpene fraction (asiaticoside, asiatic/madecassic acid) are documented, if uncommon, causes of allergic contact dermatitis (mainly at therapeutic concentrations), so a claim of negligible risk is overstated and tolerability evidence is moderate rather than strong.
