Ingredient

Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment

Sophorolipid Biosurfactant Ferment

What it is

This ingredient is a fermentation product in which the yeast Candida bombicola (now reclassified as Starmerella bombicola) converts glucose and a methyl rapeseed ester into sophorolipid biosurfactants. It acts as a naturally derived, mild cleansing and emulsifying agent in gentle cleansers and washes.

How it works

The sophorolipid molecules pair a hydrophilic sugar head with a lipophilic fatty-acid tail, letting them lower surface tension, lift oily soil and help stabilize oil-in-water emulsions.

What it does

Surfactant Cleansing Emulsifier
