Ingredient
Hydrogen Dimethicone
Si-H Fluid
Hydrophobizing silicone fluid
What it is
A reactive Si-H-containing silicone fluid used mainly as a surface-treatment agent to hydrophobize (water-repel-coat) mineral powders and UV-filter particles rather than as a skin-feel emollient on its own.
How it works
Bonds to the surface of pigments and mineral UV filters such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or mica, reducing their surface polarity, which improves dispersion, lowers the white cast typical of mineral sunscreens, and adds water resistance to the coated particles.
What it does
Emollient
Film forming
