Hydrogenated Palm Acid
Hydrogenated Palm Fatty Acid
Palm Stearic/Palmitic Acid Blend
What it is
A blend of saturated fatty acids, predominantly palmitic and stearic acid, obtained by hydrogenating palm oil; it is not a single defined compound but a fatty-acid mixture.
How it works
When neutralized with an alkali such as potassium hydroxide it saponifies into a potassium soap (potassium palmate/stearate), which acts as the primary cleansing surfactant in a soap-based cleanser; any unreacted fatty acid adds mild emollience.
