What it is
A polyhydroxy acid (PHA) formed from the oxidation of lactose, used as a gentle chemical exfoliant with humectant and antioxidant properties.
How it works
Like other PHAs, it loosens intercorneocyte bonds for gentle exfoliation, but its larger molecular size means it penetrates more slowly than AHAs, reducing stinging.
