What it is
A glutamic-acid-derived, plant-sterol-based emulsion stabilizer widely used in Japanese and Korean cosmetics to give sunscreens and emulsions a lightweight, non-greasy finish.
How it works
Its combination of phytosterol, behenyl and octyldodecyl lauroyl glutamate esters forms a lamellar gel network at the oil-water interface that stabilizes emulsions and reduces the need for conventional surfactants.
