Ingredient

Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate

SLL Lauroyl Lactylic Acid, Sodium Salt

What it is

Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate is a mild anionic surfactant made by combining lauric acid (from coconut or palm) with lactic acid. It is used in cleansers and emulsions as a gentle foaming and emulsifying agent that is less stripping than harsher sulfates.

How it works

Its fatty-acid tail and lactylate head group lower surface tension to lift away oil and dirt, while its amphiphilic structure also helps oil and water phases blend in an emulsion.
