What it is
A mild, coconut-oil-derived anionic surfactant formed from fatty acids and the amino-acid derivative N-methyltaurine, used as a gentle alternative to sulfates in cleansers.
How it works
Its fatty tail and taurate head form micelles that lift away oil, dirt and makeup and rinse cleanly, with markedly less protein-stripping and irritation than harsher sulfate surfactants.
