What it is
Sodium PCA is the sodium salt of pyroglutamic acid and a naturally occurring component of the skin's Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). It is added to moisturizers, serums, and hair products as a humectant to help skin hold onto water.
How it works
It draws and binds moisture from the environment and deeper skin layers to the surface through hygroscopic hydrogen bonding, mimicking the skin's own NMF function.
